Delivering Technology with Experience

Blue Ocean Existence is a creation spawned from 25+ years of commercial software development in the upstream sector of the Oil & Gas industry.  Through the years, several themes kept reoccurring, often to the detriment of the industry.  From these common themes, four pillars were determined:

1. Information Quality is priority 1, 2, and 3

Far too many companies put information quality on the back burner, only to realize crappy data only spreads so far.

2. Implementation/Configuration of software is paramount

How many times has a company gone through exhaustive contract negotiations with a software vendor, only to receive the "B" team when it came to implementation?  Also, many software implementations are performed in the "vacuum" of a vertical tower.  Essentially, each vertical tower becomes its own solar system; however, when it's all said and done, some solar systems can sustain life, while others die.

3. No one was ever fired for selecting Microsoft

Isn't it astounding that over 80% of the software used in the upstream sector of the oil business was developed for a different industry?  Hmmm.  Too often data analysts are duped into believing that using the latest tool from Microsoft or Google is a must - we rarely consider the impact of third-party software on the flow on information and intelligence throughout the organization.

4. Information details exist below the lease level

Working at the lease level is so ingrained in our collective psyches that we use terms like LOE - why not WOE (Well Operating Expenses)?  Engineers are by nature very detailed oriented, so why is it that we settle for information stored and delivered at the lease level?  The most successful companies understand that information stored at the finest granularity makes for effective decision making.

Arsenal is V3's data analytics platform.  Information can be rendered in a grid, custom report, or dashboard.  All of the data objects rendered through Arsenal are stored in a corporate data repository.

Canopy is V3's Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) application.  Canopy was designed specifically for the upstream oil sector, with the ability to monitor and/or schedule jobs.  It also contains schema definitions, robust formatting and validations routines.

Pharaoh is V3's implementation of a Master Data Management solution - at the core, it stores Domain Reference Keys at the asset level.  It uses pervasive versus invasive techniques to keep the data elements synchronized.  It works nicely with V3's Canopy.

MulitKeeper is V3's data entry tool primarily used for field data capture, e.g. daily field estimates.  The core of the application is the connection to the chart of accounts for your company as well as attachment to V3's online procurement system.
