This time-honored axiom forms the backbone of a unique partnership, one whose mission is to provide transparency in a timely manner, especially during these trying times. The combination of experience and information technology is the brainchild of two industry executives, teamABL, who decided to eradicate the main challenge that has faced the industry for the last 40 years - the need for information in a timely manner. Many have tried to climb this mountain, only to find that the journey is fraught with many roadblocks.
Expanding on the very definition of information -"data that has meaning" - teamABL developed the GAIN model, which turns information into wisdom and knowledge, all in a timely manner.
Who We Are
Keith Acker
After graduating from The University of Alabama in 1976 with a BS in Petroleum Engineering Keith Acker started his 44 plus year journey with Gulf Oil as a production Engineer in the GOM. Building on the steep learning curve in field operations he accepted a position with Aramco and subsequently migrated to Flopetrol Schlumberger specializing in Production Optimization via Transient Analysis. This provided a global experience across multiple continents resulting in a diversified knowledge-based engineer with leadership qualities.
Upon returning state-side in 1982 a career managing multiple successful engineering companies with an equity position culminating as VP Integrated Services with Superior Energy. After eleven years as Director Altec Engineering Services Keith became SVP Energy XXI managing all operations in GOM consisting of over 400 platforms/structures and excess of a thousand personnel producing 60,000 BOE daily. Responsibilities included interfacing with BSEE & BOEM on all governmental affairs, oversee P&A operations in the gulf, managing a yearly total budget exceeding $500,000,000.
After navigating EXXI Bankruptcy filings Keith refocused in 2017 on KDP&B Resources which he founded in 2001 with consulting and investment opportunities relating to all aspects of the energy sector.
Rick Fox
Mr. Fox is a graduate of Baylor University and a Certified Public Accountant with over 40 years of Oil & Gas accounting experience. Rick most recently was Senior Vice President and Controller of Energy XXI, a major producer in the Gulf of Mexico. He has experience in all facets of Oil & Gas accounting, from start-ups to Bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Fox has been responsible for all phases of operational accounting, including financial statement preparation, variance analysis, depreciation, revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, as well acquisition and divestiture accounting. Additionally, he has been responsible for software selection and installation multiple times.

Having close to 90 years experience in the operational and financial disciplines within the oil industry, teamABL has fully embraced the need for Information Technology to help facilitate the creation of information from the data that typically resides in disparate data sources throughout an organization. As such, teamABL has partnered with BOE to leverage the data mining and analytics tools, giving us a competitive advantage over the myriad consulting and advisory groups in our industry. Using Canopy, Wrangler, Arsenal, and Pharaoh, for example, allow us to make intelligent decisions on data that is clean, transparent, and most importantly, timely.

Gather- Using Canopy from BOE, all pertinent data in your organization is loaded into a digital format for quality control and validation. Canopy is easily configured to work with all of your existing data sets, e.g. spreadsheets, PDFs, flat files, commercial databases (Excalibur, ARIES, ProCount, etc.)
Align - With your company's data uploaded into a digital format, teamABL works to align all the pertinent datasets for maximum decision making power, e.g. revenue, expenses, production, reserves, vendors, etc. Using Pharaoh from BOE, building the "golden record" is fast and easy, eliminating many time-consuming steps from the process.
Inform - With all the data properly aligned to the lowest level possible, teamABL informs the company on the status of their operations. Using Wrangler from BOE, information sets can be built very quickly to adjust to the needs dictated by the process. The transfer of information to all parties in the process streamlines the flow of information, resulting in more timely and accurate decisions.
Negotiate - After all parties are made aware of the present conditions of the organization, models can be built to negotiate the various aspects of the restructuring. The necessary parties will have access to BOE's Arsenal, a dashboard that quickly delivers all the aligned and granular information in a format conducive to what-if scenario modeling.
